Song Sparrow
  Melospiza melodia

* Recognized by its melodious song, whisker spots, streaked breast with large central spot.

* It is never far from water. Relatively common near water in Salt Lake County.

* Prefers streamside thickets and marshes.

* Scratches in litter with both feet. Nest is on or near ground under tuft of tall grass or small shrub.
