Long-tailed Vole
 

Microtus longicaudus

* Occurs almost state-wide in forest, mountain meadow, sagebrush, and riparian habitats.

* Occurs in the driest part of the meadows.

* Has long tail for a vole, but shorter than house mouse. Ears are also short.

* Long-tailed voles build their nests above ground during the winter, but in underground burrows during the summer.
