Water Shrew
 

Sorex palustris

* One of Utah’s most common shrews. It can be found near mountain streams, lakes, and marshes.

* An excellent swimmer and always found near water.

* Diet consists primarily of aquatic insects, but small fishes and terrestrial insects, spiders, and other invertebrates are also on the menu.

* Active primarily during evening and early morning hours, but is secretive and seldom seen.
