  Cynoglossum officinale

* Native of Europe and Asia.

* Small, dark maroon flowers.

* Seeds covered with short barbed prickles (“hound’s tongue”) which act like Velcro™.

* Invasive in many areas, common along trails where seeds can hitchhike on socks and clothing.
