Creeping Mahonia (Creeping Oregon Grape)
 
  Mahonia repens (Berberis aquifolium)

* Similar to Oregon Grape, but grows close to ground.

* Evergreen native, good plant for xeriscape gardens.

* Grows in shady groves of oak and maple on Wasatch foothills.

* Mature berries are blue with a whitish bloom, ¼ inch across, are very sour when raw but make a delicious jelly when cooked and sweetened.
