Chukar
  Alectoris chukar

* Very successful introduction from Pakistan. Appears to have filled an empty ecological niche. Does not compete with any native species.

* Prefers steep, rocky, arid slopes with cheat grass, sagebrush, and rabbit brush in Great Basin, primarily in Nevada and Utah. Rocky slopes are to Chukars what sagebrush is to Sage Grouse.

* Permanent resident.

* Feeds on plant matter and insects.
