* The mountain goat was probably native to Utah in the past. It was reintroduced in the late 1960s. A herd is established in the Lone Peak Wilderness in Little Cottonwood Canyon and can be observed on the rocks south of the park-and-ride lot in the mouth of the canyon. Sightings have been reported on rocks above Corner Canyon in Draper City.
* Prefer extremely steep and rugged areas. Excellent rock climbers. Migrate to lower elevations in winter.
* Young are able to follow mothers shortly after birth.
* Feed on a variety of grasses, shrubs, lichens, mosses, and conifers.
