Flannel Mullein (Lamb's Ears)
  Verbascum thapsus

* Native to Europe; brought to America as a medicinal herb.

* Common on road sides and dry soils.

* Thick gray-green leaves have a flannel-like appearance due to soft fine hairs, hence the name, Lamb's Ears.

* An extract from the plant has been used to control mosquito larva.

* Attractive flower spike with rows of yellow flowers in second year.
