Oak-leaved Sumac (Squawbush, Skunk Bush, Lemonade-berry bush)
  Rhus trilobata or aromatica

* Member of the sumac family, along with Poison Ivy, but is not poisonous. A few people are reported to be allergic.

* Berries are coated with a lemony tasting sap. The berries can be added to sugary water to make “lemonade”.

* Native Americans used the wood for basketry and the seeds for food.

* Is an excellent xeriscaping plant, with warm coppery fall colors. Requires little to no additional water. Several varieties, especially a low-growing variety, are available from nurseries.
