Tapertip Onion
  Allium acuminatum

* Wild onions grow in shady and sunny locations. As with other plants with bulbs, they bloom early and then the bulb goes dormant during the heat of summer.

* This is a true onion and was used by native Americans and pioneers as food.

* A related onion, the Brandegee Onion (Allium brandegei) is more pale in color and has a more open blossom, like a six-pointed star. It also grows in Corner Canyon in shadier locations.
