  Picoides villosus

* Most widespread woodpecker in North America.

* Longer beak than Downy Woodpecker.

* Where the Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers feed together, the Downy occupies the smaller branches and the Hairy the trunks of trees.

* Found in wooded parks and residential areas with large trees.
