* Member of Thrush family.

* Similar in coloration to Lazuli Bunting, but the bunting is canary-sized and the Bluebird is almost Robin-sized.

* Commonly seen feeding by perching on a rock or low branch and then sallying out to catch an insect on the ground or in the air near the ground. Often feeds in flocks.

* It is a cavity nester. Destruction of old trees with cavities limits the Bluebird's population. Programs to provide nest boxes has helped its recovery.

* Commonly seen in small flocks.
