Sylvilagus nuttallii (Mountain Cottontail) at elevations greater than 6000 feet.


Sylvilagus audubonii (Desert Cottontail) at elevations below 6000 feet.


* Feed on wide variety of forbes, grasses, and shrubs.

* Easily distinguished by their short ears and white tails.

* The nest is usually in an underground burrow.
